Coaching youth football is fun, exciting, challenging, and an incredibly rewarding experience. Watching young athletes grow throughout the season—both as football players and as individuals—is one of the most fulfilling aspects of coaching.
Volunteering as a youth football coach comes with important responsibilities. Coaches are expected to teach proper fundamentals and emphasize safe football play at all times. As a coach, it is important to understand that many young athletes will look up to you, and your players will often reflect your leadership, values, and coaching style.
Coaches must recognize that youth football is about more than wins and losses. Coaching is about teaching life lessons, building character, and instilling traits that help young athletes succeed both on and off the field.
